Wood County unemployment jumps to 8.1% | Business
BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) – Wood County’s unemployment rated increased to 8.1 percent in January, up from 6.1 percent in December of last year.
Nearly all Ohio counties saw an increase in unemployment rate in January as seasonal jobs disappeared. Rural counties seem to have been hit the hardest.
Unemployment in Wood County sits exactly where it did a year ago at this time, in January of 2012.
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services estimates there are 59,900 employed Wood County residents, with 5,200 still looking for work.
